STATEMENT

This site is a place for all of the images in my life, some thoughts and a few inspirations. I recently moved from New York, my home of 10 years, to Berlin, Germany. The shock of the new, the isolation, the different culture and the foreign language have combined and forced me to look back at where I've come from while confronting the new. This is a place for the images of the places I've been, the people I've known, my life up until now and my life starting now, good and bad.

I've always photographed my daily life and those around me. For years I've been unsatisfied with the formality of "the portfolio" and "the website." I want this combination of static images along with regular updates of places, themes, and times to finally show my work as it's meant to be seen. I'll be traveling, exploring and posting regularly.

BIOGRAPHY

Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Alexa was raised by parents who like to travel and a father who likes to take pictures. They gave her a camera early on and she hasn't looked back since.

Living in New York for 10 years, she graduated from the School of Visual Arts and worked as a photographer and photographer's assistant, always traveling when she could and always taking pictures.

She recently moved to Berlin, Germany where she is finally learning a new language and taking advantage of the many new places at her doorstep.
